Celebrate A Mother's Legacy at Sofitel Manila

In honor of Mother's Day, Spiral celebrates Filipina women and their traditional craftsmanship by showcasing their customs and heirloom cuisine from May 9 to May 11, 2014.  Last week, the SoMoms were invited to  to the press launch of Sofitel's A Mother's Legacy.

Women artisans of Luzon will have a live demonstration featuring an Abel Iloco weaver from Paoay, Ilocos Norte, a barong embroiderer from Taal, Batangas and basket weaver from Manila. These special workshops will be intertwined with the famous 21 ateliers of Spiral.

Spiral's female chefs and master chefs will showcase local favorites and share secret recipes that is passed through three generations of mothers and their families.

Other dishes such as Cuchinillo, Braised Oxtail Parmentier, Homemade Tofu with Chinese Spinach and Dried and Fresh Scallop will also be featured in Spiral's buffet.

Different cakes and desserts will also be served at the buffet. These are made by pastry chef Edgar Butawan.

On May 13, 2014, A Mother's Day :egacy Fashion Show will be staged at Spiral at 7pm.

Ryan Madamba gives the traditional Abel Iloco a modern twist. This will be showcased in a fashion show.

During the show, Filipina leaders will also be honored. Guests can get a chance to win prizes from Estee Lauder, Jewelmer and L'Oreal Paris.

We also got to try flower arranging!  Marry Pagsanjan, Sofitel's resident botanical specialist shares the distinctive edge he presents in the highly competitive world of creative stylists.

The SoMoms got to try arranging our own flowers.

Spiral Mother's Day Brunch is from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. Rate is set at Php 3,550++ for adults and Php 1,500+ for kids. Dinner rate is set at Php 2,550++ for adults and Php 1,300++ for kids. Kids 4 years old and below are free!
